UT Austin Battle Hall

Austin, Texas

Architexas is leading the interior restoration and rehabilitation of Battle Hall at the University of Texas at Austin. Designed by Cass Gilbert and completed in 1911, Battle Hall exemplifies the Spanish-Mediterranean Revival style and is home to the recently renamed John S. Chase Architecture and Planning Library and the Alexander Architectural Archives.

Widely regarded as the crown jewel of the UT Austin campus, Battle Hall is undergoing a series of enhancements under Architexas’ direction. The project includes the addition of new School of Architecture design studios, restoration of the historic Reading Room, updated lighting, reconstruction of the historic first-floor corridor barrel vaults, and the integration of a new elevator to improve access to the library stacks and primary building levels. Currently in the demolition and abatement phase, construction is set for completion in time for the building’s reopening in Fall 2025. Image credit to Assad Malik with The Daily Texan.
