Winedale Historical Complex
Round Top, Texas
Architexas was contracted by the University of Texas to provide a variety of architectural and historic preservation specialty services for the Winedale Historical Complex, a division of the Dolph Briscoe Center for American History. The first phase of services included an Exterior Condition Assessment for the most significant, yet deteriorated structures at the complex; the Lewis-Wagner house, the McGregor-Grimm House, the Koneschik Log House (Kitchen), and the Boecker Log House (Smokehouse).
Following the condition assessment and associated construction cost estimate, Architexas provided full exterior preservation construction plans and specifications for all four structures. At this time, the most significant property, the Lewis-Wagner House, has been fully preserved with upcoming work planned for the other three sites.
As part of our services, all work required careful coordination and approvals of the Texas Historical Commission, since the entire Winedale Complex is listed as a State Antiquities Landmark. An Antiquities Permit Application and Project Completion Report are required for each phase of construction.
