UT Austin Main Building
Austin, Texas
Architexas served as the historic preservation architect and produced a feasibility study for the exterior restoration and rehabilitation of the 1936 Main Building at the University of Texas. French architect Paul Philippe Cret designed this Spanish Renaissance-style architectural masterpiece as the central feature of the 40-acre master-planned campus.
As part of the feasibility study, Architexas conducted historic research, an existing facilities survey of the exterior building envelope (including the clock, bell, and observation level of the tower), and exterior ADA and building code analysis. Architexas also developed a recommended maintenance plan and produced an estimate of the probable cost of exterior envelope restoration and rehabilitation.
The primary goal of the study was to determine the project scope of work needed to repair, restore, and rehabilitate the building exterior and to develop a cost for this work. Once the study was completed and an overall project cost was developed, Architexas worked with the University to develop a phasing strategy that was categorized by priority and associated work.
