Plans have been laid out for a $17 million renovation to turn the 90-year-old Barfield Building into a downtown hotel.
Barfield ownership group DJ Realty Investments has retained the services of Dallas-based architecture firm Architexas and received preliminary approval for historic tax credits that would save the company millions, according to National Park Service records. The NPS has affirmed the building’s historical significance and provided a checklist of original details to maintain but won’t issue final approval on the tax credits until the project is complete.
