Dallas Parks Plan
Dallas, Texas
As part of a comprehensive facilities survey and master plan by Carter Burgess for the City of Dallas Park and Recreation Department, Architexas prepared condition assessments and improvement recommendations for 35 of Dallas’ most historic parks. Architexas created a database to document the research and condition assessment for each park and worked with the city archivist to catalog historic records and drawings.
The city-wide “Renaissance Plan” identified over $2 billion in maintenance and improvement work. The city began implementing the Plan in 2004 with bond funds and Architexas was commissioned to provide full architectural services for the restoration of three historic parks. Restoration work includes the repair of park structures, furniture, and landscape and making the parks accessible and safer.
Architexas provided a restoration master plan for the 1940s Lake Cliff Park – Rose Garden. Lake Cliff Park, located in Oak Cliff, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is designated a City of Dallas Historic District.
Architexas’ current projects include writing the historic overlay ordinance for Reverchon Park, restoration documents for the historic ballpark grandstand at Reverchon Park, and conditions assessments and rehabilitation recommendations for more than sixty structures at Old City Park.
