Ennis Public Library

Ennis, Texas

Ennis Public Library has grown several times since the original building was constructed in 1982. The existing building footprint was completed after major renovations in the 80s and 90s. In order to connect the library to other local improvement projects, the City of Ennis hired Architexas to provide full architectural services for the current renovation of the building.

Architexas worked closely with the City and the City Librarian to reprogram spaces to function better for the staff and the community. Interior finishes were selected to create a bright, modern, contemplative space for adults and a playful, imaginative environment for children. Key exterior features focus on a reimagined front facade with classical detailing that references Ennis’s historic downtown core. The new design includes a new vaulted entry and trellis that will revitalize the  building’s street presence and enhance the entry procession. A new children’s garden provides a safe outdoor space for children to play and learn while maintaining a visual connection to the children’s section of the library. The project also includes building code improvements such as fire sprinklers and systems upgrades such as modern window systems, improved building insulation and new LED lighting.
