Gables McKinney Routh Townhomes

Architexas, in conjunction with DWG Architects, provided planning and architectural services for the mixed use mid-rise development located on McKinney Avenue in the Uptown neighborhood of Dallas, Texas for Gables Residential. The development site is partially located within the State Thomas Historic District, requiring that the tract facing the State Thomas Street adhere to preservation criteria outlined in the State Thomas District Ordinance, ensuring compatibility with the size, scale and characteristics that define one of Dallas’ most distinct and oldest historic neighborhoods.
Based on extensive research of period Queen Anne styled townhomes, Architexas designed the new urban infill project that met Gables development goals and met the standards in the ordinance of the historic district. Architexas guided the development through the entitlement process by participating in neighborhood meetings and public hearings. The resulting development and building design relates to the historic district’s period of significance, respects the scale of its immediate context and provides a transition to the mid-rise residential tower on McKinney Avenue.
