Team Architexas had the honor of attending the grand opening of the new Charles Beatty Municipal Services Building in Waxahachie, Texas! We were so excited to celebrate this project coming to fruition.
Architexas provided a programming and feasibility study with full architectural services for the Charles Beatty Municipal Services Building – a new one-stop shop for the City of Waxahachie’s Development Services department. The new building is located within Waxahachie’s Downtown Commercial Historic District and across the street from the city’s historic city hall. The Charles Beatty Municipal Services Building provides open office space for five departments, shared conference spaces for the city and for community use and meets the city’s projected future growth needs.

The Grand Stair in its muted opulence draws your eye up towards the oculus that frames the domed ceiling on the 2nd floor. A feeling of amazement and wonder wells up in you as you contemplate the heavenly sheet of plaster and light draped above you.”
From Jungmin, Associate AIA, Design Staff: “My favorite part of the grand opening day was when we all met Charles Beatty, named on Annex building. We self-toured the building and found some nice natural lighting spots! We loved the fancy conference room and the hidden break room for the staff!”
About the Project
The new 26,800-SF building links public parking at the back of the building through a covered arcade to a public plaza fronted by a new retail building. Additional public amenities provided at the new Charles Beatty Municipal Services Building include public restrooms accessed from the exterior plaza, electric car chargers, and a police satellite office.
The building draws its stylistic cues from the majestic Ellis County Courthouse and historic Romanesque buildings of downtown Waxahachie. Other Romanesque civic buildings, many city halls themselves, are referenced in the building’s exterior facades.
