DALLAS, TX., July 28, 2023 – This year marks the 45th anniversary of Architexas. What started out as two architects from the City of Dallas Planning Department working in the area of historic preservation and urban design, Architexas has become one of the premier architecture firms in the state with growing offices in Dallas, Austin and San Antonio. Craig Melde, founding principal of the firm states “I am very proud of how we have achieved many of our original goals for Architexas as a firm that values high quality design, preservation of historic architecture and the development of great relationships with our clients. I am also proud and pleased to announce this exciting leadership transition for our firm.”
Architexas extends best wishes to Stanley O. Graves, FAIA, who retired June 1, 2023 after serving the firm as Senior Principal since 2013. Stan is widely known and respected in the historic preservation community across Texas and indeed the entire country for having conceived and directed the nationally recognized Texas Historic Courthouse Preservation Program and for serving many years as Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer and Architectural Director for the Texas Historical Commission. He brought vast experience and wisdom to Architexas and further enhanced our reputation as the premier historic preservation practice in Texas.
Stan, known for his good-natured demeanor and insightful approach to complex architectural issues, provided invaluable support and guidance across a wide range of our work over the last ten years including historic courthouses, city halls, post offices, higher education facilities, museums, and military installations. The Board of Directors of Architexas is pleased to recognize Stanley Graves as a Principal Emeritus of the firm and plans to utilize his expertise on select projects in the future. Architexas sincerely thanks Stan for his many contributions and wishes him the very best in his well-deserved retirement.
